She sold the soul, he did not hold,
and gave herself to forests mold.
Enwrapped; she stood amidst the dell,
as fingers pierced her mortals shell
and grasp'd her splintered heart, where dwelt, the ashened coal
once burning fierce. Seeking solace she sold the soul.
The forest claim'd her sacrifice
and bound it with immortals price;
no more from lips her whispered pleas
resound. Now ever through the leaves,
the echo's of her breath, 'pon breeze, calls out the name
of one, by whom betrayed, the soul the forest claim'd.
